An eight-year-old
company. A new product.
Hoppo is the consumer-safety business built by Oval Innovations Private Limited — a Delhi company that has spent the last eight years supplying the Indian government and defence sector. We're applying the same compliance discipline to a problem that has needed it for decades.
Most school transport works somehow.
Almost none of it works safely.
India has tens of millions of children commuting to school every weekday in private cabs, autos, and uncertified buses. The driver is usually trustworthy. The system around the driver — accountability, monitoring, audit — usually doesn't exist. Hoppo replaces the missing system without replacing the driver.
— What I told myself before starting this in 2024From defence supply to family safety.
Eight years of operating a compliance-heavy business. The transition from government contracts to consumer safety is shorter than it sounds — both demand auditability, both demand documentation, both punish shortcuts.
Oval Innovations founded
Started as an industrial supplies firm in Rohini, Delhi. First clients: small manufacturing units in NCR.
GeM & government procurement
Registered on the Government e-Marketplace. Started fulfilling tenders for state departments and PSUs across Delhi-NCR.
Defence supply contracts
Expanded into supplying defence-grade equipment. The audit discipline required for these contracts — documentation, traceability, hash-verified delivery — became the company's operating DNA.
Hoppo idea, prototyping
Began designing what would become Hoppo — initially called Ferry. Mapped the school transport ecosystem in NCR for 6 months. Built early prototypes of the parent app and route engine.
Rohini pilot · Q3 launch
Pilot launches with four partner schools in Rohini and 200 families. If the network density math holds, we'll expand to 4 more neighbourhoods in 2027 — measured against the same compliance standards we apply to defence work.
Four rules we don't break.
The architecture must enforce the policy.
"We promise this won't happen" is worth nothing. Either the system makes it impossible, or it's not a guarantee. The school-cab/employee-cab separation isn't a rule we enforce — it's a feature of the software that nobody, including us, can turn off mid-shift.
The cheapest version of the product must still be the safest.
Hoppo Saver tier has the same twelve safety guarantees as Hoppo Captain. We don't offer a discount by removing safety features. We offer a discount by sharing the seat.
If schools pay, schools choose vendors. So schools don't pay.
Charging schools creates a procurement relationship — and procurement relationships in India are slow, political, and frequently corrupt. We earn from parents and adult riders. The school is the gatekeeper, not the customer.
Children's transport and adults' Hop-In never share a vehicle.
Not "almost never". Never. The Hop-In feature does not exist in the driver app for school cabs. The driver can't override it. The cab can't be repurposed mid-shift. This is not a policy — it's a permission boundary in the code.
A father, building what he wants for his own child.
I'm based in Rohini. My wife and I have a young child. I've spent the last eight years running an operations-heavy business and learning what it takes to get a thousand small things right every day. Hoppo is the product I wanted as a parent — and didn't find. So I'm building it.
I'm not technical. The product was designed in partnership with a small engineering team and tested with parents in Rohini before any of it became visible. We've spent a year and a half listening more than building.
If you want to know how something specific works, why a decision was made, or whether something in our marketing matches our reality — write to me. The contact form goes to me, not a support queue.
Help us build this right.
If you're a parent in Rohini, a school principal looking for a partner, a business needing employee shuttles, or just someone who wants to talk — we want to hear from you.
